If you are new to our practice, you will be offered an initial medical consultation appointment with one of our specialists. This allows for a comprehensive medical assessment and enables your specialist to decide the necessary tests and treatment needed for your health concerns. Your specialists may refer you for further tests and will discuss this with you in detail during the consultation. You will need a referral letter from your GP or specialist for this initial consultation.
If you have been referred to have a home sleep study, this may be able to be performed prior to an assessment from one of our specialists, providing that you have a valid GP referral and meet the Medicare Benefits Schedule screening questionnaire criteria for home sleep study.
A pulmonary function test can also be booked without prior assessment from one of our specialists with a valid referral from your general practitioner.
Please email or fax your referral along with any relevant test results (e.g. X-ray or CT scan reports or blood tests), and one of our doctors will triage the referral. In some cases, our specialists may organise additional tests for you prior to your appointment.
We will endeavour to see any patient with suspected lung cancer or requiring a procedure within two weeks.
What To Bring To Your Consultation:
Please note a CD or USB of the CT with DICCOM images of 1mm contiguous slices or thinner is highly desirable and a copy can usually be requested from the place you did the CT scan with (most CT scans are now acquired in 1mm slices and physical hard copy of films only provide about 10% of the images taken). Please don’t expect your GP or referring specialist to have transferred all the relevant images or results to us electronically
Please ensure that you attend your appointment 15 minutes early to allow time for you to complete any relevant paperwork. Alternatively, please download and complete our Patient Registration Forms. You may either send the completed form via email prior to the appointment or bring it with you on the day of your appointment.
If you have been referred for assessment of obstructive sleep apnoea or you suspect you have obstructive sleep apnoea, please fill in the questionnaires in the Referral for Home Sleep Study section below and email the questionnaires to us prior to the appointment or bring it with you on the day of your appointment.
